Festival
Place Nassau Bahamas
One place you
must visit while in Nassau is Festival Place. Situated on the Prince George
Dock in the heart of Nassau, Festival Place offers the tourists a vibrant
and energetic environment to start their souvenir purchases, take in a long
cool drink and taste some local ice cream before they continue into Bay Street,
have their hair braided or take a surrey ride around Nassau.
Designed
by Bahamian architect, Jackson Burnside and managed by the Ministry of Tourism,
Festival Place is a village of little shops and kiosks, each painted in Caribbean
colours and decorated with the most tempting array of products.
To
anyone who is not already aware of the creative ability of Bahamians, the variety
of products will soon persuade any discerning tourist that here is the place
to buy souvenirs to take back to family and friends who are not fortunate to
visit the Bahamas themselves.
From
the world famous Harl Taylor bags, the beautiful straw work from the islands,
the hand-made rolled soaps, silver and other jewellry, teas, books and dolls
made from local materials, to drinks, ice cream and wonderful chocolate....it
is all here in this kaleidoscope of colour and energy. Visit when the band is
playing and a new level of exhuberance pervades the atmosphere, as visitors
dance to the rhythm of local sounds.
Festival Place looks
out onto the harbour and welcomes the cruise ship visitors as they come ashore.
Make sure you do not miss this exhilarating experience when you come to Nassau.
